Tim Wadhams - Athletic Alumni 2017

Timothy Wadhams, Pioneer Class of 1966, enters the Ann Arbor Pioneer Athletics Hall of Fame as an Athletic Alumni nominee in recognition of his accomplishments as a member of Pioneer’s football and basketball teams.

Tim’s accomplishments on the basketball court helped carry Pioneer to the runner up spot in the state championship. His football prowess earned him a spot at the next level on the University of Michigan football team.

After his playing days were over, Tim earned a Masters in Business at U-M. He then took his talents into the business world where he once again proved his leadership and business acumen were stellar.

He began in 1972 as a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand and ended his formal business career as President and Chief Executive Officer of a multi-billion, global corporation—Masco Corporation

Tim was an executive for 37 years with Masco, one of the world's largest manufacturers of home improvement and building products. If you have heard of Delta faucets, Merillat cabinets, or Behr paint among many others, you have heard of the Masco Corporation.

After holding other executive positions at Masco since his start there in 1976, Tim served as Masco’s President and Chief Executive Officer from 2007 to 2014.

Tim’s leadership and character include a strong element of giving back. Tim and his wife Laurie made a major gift to U-M’s Kellogg Eye Center in memory of the pediatric ophthalmologist who corrected a debilitating eye problem Tim had as a youngster. Through a series of operations, Dr. Harold Falls was able to correct Tim’s severe case of strabismus and enable him to have eyesight that allowed all of his athletic endeavors as well as all other activities of daily living.

In the same vein, Tim’s dedication to Ann Arbor is strong as he has served on the Board of Trustees of the Arbor Hospice Foundation and the Ann Arbor Community Foundation, among others.

Tim’s commitment to Pioneer also remains vibrant. Tim started the Pioneer Academic Athletic Fund with a major gift. He has been an active booster of the football program, including running the team’s spaghetti dinner fundraiser several years.
