Kent Bernard - Volunteer 2007
Kent is being honored for his incredible history of volunteering and coaching at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. As an athlete, Kent won a bronze medal as a member of the 1600m relay team at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo. He was also a Pan-American Games Champion in the 400m in 1966. This All-American Athlete and University of Michigan graduate spent twenty years coaching sprints and hurdles for U of M track teams.
Beyond coaching, Kent has helped the community as a Social Worker and Probate officer for the Juvenile Court in Washtenaw County for 30 years. He has helped many students in the Ann Arbor Public Schools stay “on track”.
