Hall of Fame Bio.

Harold Simons - Athletic Alumni 2008

Harold Simons was born and raised in Ann Arbor.  He attended Jones, Tappan, Slauson and graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1964.  During his high school career he earned 7 varsity letters in football, basketball and golf.  While in college at Eastern Michigan University Harold played three years of varsity basketball (playing in every game) and was elected captain during his senior year.  His teaching career at Eastern, Huron High School and Bryant Elementary has spanned 39 years.  Coach Si started coaching in 1968 as a reserve basketball coach at Eastern and has since coached Washtenaw Community College and Huron High School.  His coaching award are numerous and prestigious.  As an EMU Head Golf Coach from 1970 through 1972 he had 3 National Qualifying Tournament teams in a row.  He receive “All-County”, “All-District” and “All-Regional” Coach of the Year Awards.  He’s also had “All-State” players in both basketball and golf.  Coach Si can boast of Conference, District and Regional Championships in both the basketball and golf.  He’s been inducted into the EMU Athletics Hall of Fame and the Huron High School Hall of Fame.  We’re proud to have Coach Si enter the Pioneer High School Hall of Fame too.
