Ray Helber - Volunteer 2004

The patriarch of a large, famous and well respected band of Pioneers, Ray has been an Ann Arbor resident since 1915, having attended Mack School, Ann Arbor High and Ypsilanti Normal College (now EMU).  Ray's wife Marian, sons Paul & Bob and their wives plus eight grandchildren all attended Ann Arbor/Pioneer High, and there are some great grandchildren headed that way right now.

 

Ray is being recognized tonight for the support he has provided for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and the various teams on which they have participated, notably ice hockey, equestrian and field hockey.  If you ever needed and announcer, timer, score keeper or just someone to turn on the lights, you could count on Ray.

 

Ray and Marion have lived in Ann Arbor during their 65 years of marriage and are still active in the community. Ray bowls in a league, attends Zion Lutheran Church and supports the Maize and Blue as a member of the U of M Hockey Deker's Club.
