Paul Dimond - Athletic Alumni 2017

Ann Arbor High School was a three-year school at the time when Paul Dimond attended. Paul was a three-sport athlete, winning two varsity letters in tennis and two in basketball.

For three years, Paul was the #1 singles player on the team, finishing twice as a semi-finalist and once as a finalist in state championships. Also, Paul won the state hardcourt junior singles and doubles championship. He was the first nationally ranked junior tennis player in Ann Arbor High School history.

As successful as Paul was athletically, he was just as accomplished off the court. He served as President of the Student Council for the 1961-1962 school year after serving as President of the Junior Class in 1960-1961. He represented Ann Arbor High School at Michigan’s Boy’s State program and was elected Speaker of the House by the other student-representatives.

Paul took his Boy’s State experience to another level when he served as Special Assistant to the U.S. President for Economic Policy in the 1990s.

Paul’s career as an attorney based in Ann Arbor led to national recognition and repute.

Paul continues to give back to the school he loves. He is making a significant contribution to support the AA Pioneer Academic Athletics Fund in honor of the 2017 Hall of Fame Inductees.
