David excelled in football and basketball during his career at Ann Arbor High.  He graduated in 1965.  He was All-City and second team All-State in football.  David attended the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship and eventually transferred to the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee where he continued his football excellence and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communication.

David then embarked on an eight-year career in the National Football League:  Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, and Philadelphia Eagles.  He was named the NFL Rookie of the Year for his freshman season with the Green Bay Packers and became the first player to ever gain 1000 yards in a season for the Falcons.

Following his playing days, David put his Communications degree to work in the Atlanta, Georgia area as a television producer, director, writer and talk show host.  He also became a community leader in his adopted home city, serving with the NAACP, United Way, Save the Whales, Friend of the Library, Heart Fund and the Atlanta Zoological Society. to name just a few.

David Hampton is a native son of whom Ann Arbor can be, and is, justly proud
