Danielle Harpell-Hardaway - Athletic Alumna 2010

Danielle Harpell-Hardaway graduated from Pioneer High School in 1988.  As a member of State Championship teams in track in 1986, ‘87, and ’88, she was part of a State Champion relay, and was All-State in ’86 and ’87, as well as team Captain in 1988.  Danielle was a member of the Pioneer cross country team from 1985 to 1987.  As Captain her senior year, she lead the team to a State Championship, and was All-State and All-American.  Danielle was featured as Channel 7’s “Athlete of the Week” after winning the state cross country race.  She earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Illinois where she lettered from 1989 to 1992, was a Big Ten Academic Honoree, earned a Big Ten Ring, and graduated Cum Laude from Illinois in 1992.  Danielle says that her Pioneer athletic experience “has had a profound influence on my life.  My coach (Westfield) taught me to believe in myself and that anything is possible through hard work, dedication, and determination.”
