Samuel Holloway - Athletic Alumni 2010

Samuel Holloway graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1951.  He was a member of the football and wrestling teams.  Sam was State Champion in wrestling in both 1949 and 1950.  He went on to college at Eastern Michigan University where he earned two varsity letters in football and three in wrestling.  Sam continued his athletic involvement by playing semi-professional football after college, and was an initial board member of the Ann Arbor Junior Wolverines youth football program in the early 1970’s.  He continued his association with wrestling by serving as a Michigan High School Athletic Association wrestling official, wrestling head coach at South Lyon High School from 1964-1968, and volunteering in multiple high school wrestling programs in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.  In 2009, Sam was made an Honorary Football Team Captain at EMU’s Homecoming game, on the fiftieth anniversary year of his college graduation.
