Hershal Brown - Volunteer 2006

Hershal is being honored this evening for his incredible history of volunteering at cross country ad track/field meets for more than 25 years at local, state and even the national level.  But there is so much more to tell about this inductee.  In the track area, he has also served as assistant coach at Pioneer and at Clague Middle School.  Outside of track, Hershal has served as an NAACP volunteer for Black College tours, has served as president of the Ann Arbor Citizens Policing Academy Alumni, as a Washtenaw County election official and other areas too numerous to mention here.  In 2005, he received the Presidential National Award for Volunteering – 500 hours plus for the Ann Arbor Police Department.

Hershal Brown is a 1964 graduate of Ann Arbor High School.  Following that, he earned a BA in Human Resources and a MS in Organizational Leadership Administration, both from Concordia College (now University) in Ann Arbor.  Hershal retired in 2000 after 31 years with Ford Motor Company as a Product Planner, Product Manager and Corporate Diversity Trainer.

Hershal has been married to his middle school sweetheart for 38 years, has two married daughters, one granddaughter and two grandsons.  This is an absolutely amazing guy!
