Mike Rodriguez - Athletic Alumni 2005
His life was blessed from the very beginning. His mother and father were Mexican immigrants, who by accident got off the train in Ann Arbor, not Detroit, like they had planned. Coincidentally they chose to live in Ann Arbor on the side of town, which northsiders believe to bet the best side of Ann Arbor. He crossed the railroad track every day to attend school and when he got that north side courage, he even walked the rails over the bridge.
At Ann Arbor High he was captain and wrestled on the 1950 and 1951 state championship teams. He was a state champion in his weight class both years, and undefeated in 1951. He also lettered in football and baseball from 1949-1951, and was all-sate honorable mention in 1951, for football.
