Francie Kraker-Goodrich - Athletic Alumni 2002
Francie participated at Ann Arbor High School before organized athletic teams and Title IX. At U of M her freshman year she was named to the US National team earning top-ten world ranking for the 800 meters in 1966. In 1967 she set the US record for 800 meters and a world record for the 600 yards in Madison Square Garden, New York. She made the US Olympic team in 1968 and 1972 running the 800 meters and the 1500 meters.
Francie also coached the U of M Cross Country team to its first ever NCAA Regional Championship in 1982, and first Big Ten Championship in 1983. She was named to the U of M Hall of Honor in 1994, U of M Women’s Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1995, and the State of Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame in 2001.
