Originally from West Michigan, Jake graduated from Whitehall High School where he received All-State honors as a catcher and holds the school's home run record with 17, beating out his older brother, Nate McLouth's previous record of 16.

Jake's college career started at Grand Rapids Community College where he competed for one season before moving on to compete for the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, McLouth saw much of his playing time as a Designated Hitter, but also played Catcher and First Base. McLouth retired from playing baseball after the 2009 season. 

Jake is now in his 7th year of coaching which has taken him from his Alma Mater, Whitehall High School, to the Dominican Republic at the American School of Santo Domingo, and finally to Pioneer High School. The 2019 season will be his third season as Pioneer's JV head coach.
