On Thursday, December 27th, Ypsilanti Lincoln played host to the Washtenaw Winter Challenge. The third game of the day featured the girls of Ann Arbor Pioneer vs the Irish of Father Gabriel Richard. The Irish started out strong and went into the half with a 18 - 14 lead over Pioneer. Keeping with their recent trend of third quarter rallies, Pioneer fought back with a 26 point 3rd quarter barrage and ever looked back winning the contest 55-37. Pioneer was led by Asaria Turman who had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Mya Hicks chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Lauren DeWolf and Whitney Gallagher each added two 3s to the box score to help in the second half. The team shot 42% from the floor and dominated the boards. The team will face an undefeated Coldwater team next in what promises to be an outstanding matchup.
